WHAT IS INTERNET?

  
Well, the word "Internet" stands for "Interconnected Network"; it is a network that is consisted of millions of big and small networks across the world. It's the biggest worldwide communication network of computers. It has millions of domestic, academic, business and government networks which together carry many different types of information. 'WWW' that is the World Wide Web is used by a few billion people all over the world.

The Internet was developed in the U.S. by the"United States Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency"(DARPA). It was first connected in Oct 1969 and was called ARPANET. The WWW created at CERN in Switzerland in 1990 by a British (UK) scientist named Tim Berners Lee.

(1) Approximately 3.2 billion people use the Internet all over the world out of which 1.7 billion of them are Asians. In fact, it is estimated that approximately 200 billion emails and 3 billion Google search get hampered if the Internet goes down for a day.

(2) It's amazing that China has treatment camps for internet addicts. 200 million internet users in China are between the ages of 15 to 35. Hence, it is likely that they lose self-control.
