Who doesn't use WhatsApp on his/her smartphone in these days of internet? Of course almost everyone does. 1. Status Privacy
If you don't like to share your WhatsApp status with all of your contacts on your phone, you must give a try to this important setting of WhatsApp. Go to status section which is located in the middle of Chats and Calls sections on Android. Click the three dots at the top right of the screen. Then hit on Status Privacy. You will find here three options that are 'My contacts' , 'My contacts except' and 'Only share with'. My contacts helps you share status with all of your contacts on the phone, while Only share with provides you the facility not to share status with those you select. And Only share with helps you do just the opposite that is, to share status only with those you select. Now that you are pretty much aware of how to control your WhatsApp status privacy. 2. Two Step Verification
This is the most useful setting that almost every social media undertake now a days, be it Facebook, Gmail or any other platforms. This feature helps you secure your account from any unknown or unauthorized intrusions that might harm your WhatsApp privacy. Very few people are aware of this feature on WhatsApp which is very dangerous. As nor enabling this setting can make your account susceptible to unauthorized intrusions without your knowledge.
Click on the three dots at the top right corner of your mobile screen. Go to Settings, then Account and then click on Two step verification. Here you will be asked to create a 6-digit number which is given at the time registering your phone number with WhatsApp. This helps you prevent your account from being used by other users, and thus you end up securing your account from unknown persons.
3. Read Receipts
If you don't want your friends to know the fact that you have already read their messages then you should give this awesome feature a kind try. Disabling this feature helps you read others' messages without their knowledge.
Click on the three dots, then go to Settings, next go to Account and then hit on Privacy. Here you will discover an option called Read Receipts at the bottom. Simply uncheck that box and you will see the magic. Your friends will not even know that you have already their messages. This becomes possible as the double blue ticks are not shown to them.
4. Auto Download Files
Many times it is seen that the medias that your friends and relatives send you on WhatsApp get an auto download without your consent. In this case this download eats up all your mobile data and you end up scratching your head how this was possible. You can't understand how all your cellular data got finished off. In this case you can prevent this problem by turning off the auto download file setting.
Click on the three dots, then go to Settings and then hot on the option Data Usage. Here you will discover two varieties. One is for mobile data and the other is for Wi-Fi data. One by one select them, and then uncheck all of the checked boxes and save the settings by hitting ok. Now the medias that come on your WhatsApp won't get downloaded without your permission. 5. Chat Backup
The last important setting includes chat backup. This little feature helps you get a backup of all your important chats to Google Drive, so that you can easily restore them from another phone provided your phone goes missing.
